Commission Report: America's Living Oceans: Charting a Course for Sea Change

Testimony

The Pew Oceans Commission report provides recommendations for addressing ocean health through comprehensive management reform. The report focuses on the need to improve management of living marine resources and recommends measures to lessen the impact of land-based pollution and nutrient runoff on the oceans and coasts, which further exacerbate other problems like overfishing and invasive species. To address such problems, the report recommends that the federal government better coordinate agencies and policies that connect the land, sea, and air. The final report was released in June 2003.
